Pre-Planting Care

When you get your purchases home, unload the car, pick up your mail and let the dog out (we don't want to neglect Spot). There may be no time to get the new plants into their new container homes.

If you are pressed for time, place the plants in a shaded area outdoors, water them gently and thoroughly and keep them cool and moist until the planting can go forward. It's important to place them where they won't be tipped over by animals (maybe you should have kept Spot indoors), chewed by insects or night visitors, or stepped on by a careless foot!

Try to plant them as soon as possible, however, for the longer they wait in their nursery pots the more adjusting they'll have to do in your container.
